  4.     The Labeler was born over a year ago as a simple 3K program that
  5.     listed labels out.  As I needed more functions The Labeler got
  6.     bigger and bigger.  The Labeler now is 38.5K and takes up about
  7.     460k of memory when running (because of file management and bulky
  8.     Pascal code). The Labeler will now sort on any label, do your
  9.     file handling, print double wide label strips, and print out
  10.     every label shown on the display, double or single wide.

  12.     Starting with version 1.0 this is a brief history...
  13.  
  14.     1.0   No color, no file utilities, basic set up, 4 or 6 line labels.
  15.  
  16.     1.4   Color code added but not implemented, TURN PAGE added.
  17.  
  18.     1.5   Color version created, simple file routines, 4 line labels only,
  19.           simulated windows added.
  20.  
  21.     2.0   SORTING (Random), better file routines, LOTS of BUGS fixed!
  22.  
  23.     2.5   More BUGS fixed, on line HELP added, confirm functions, double
  24.           labels added, EDITING function fixed.
  25.  
  26.     3.0   Alphabetical sorting, routines (code) cleaned up for speed,
  27.           a lot of prompting for saving edited files (or new files)

  30.     3.5   Printing all labels added, printing label list added, menus
  31.           cleaned up, edit flag on display file name added (*).

  33.     4.0   First released version ($8.00 US) fully operational version...
  34.           Prints DOUBLE in PRINT ALL LABEL mode, 1-5 line label version,
  35.           cleaner. First line large next lines small did not work in all
  36.           modes.

  38.     4.5   Prints out from any letter to any letter. Prints DOUBLE when
  39.           printing ALL LABELS and when printing FROM/TO.  Cleanup of The
  40.           Labeler INC file, Messages cleaned up, a new color added for
  41.           some of the comments/messages, all printing can be aborted
  42.           with KEYPRESS. Proper house keeping and file handling for up
  43.           to 242 labels. All modes except first line big. External HELP
  44.           file to reduce size.

  46.     4.7   Uses SETUP to define Printer Port (to fix bug in ability to see
  47.           the DOS redirection from LPT1 to COM1).  Allows any legal DOS
  48.           character to be used in filenames. Allows unlimited labels to
  49.           by handled. Can ESC from display of label list (can be a long
  50.           wait if not). Bug fixed in PRINT ALL (when no labels displayed).

  52.     4.75  Titles added to menu screens. BUG in load when new fixed, BUG
  53.       in SAVE-NO-RENAME LOOP fixed. Info Tag shadow fixed (on clear).
  54.       Exit Routines re routed. When editing old line is NOT erased.
  55.           Compiled to an *.EXE file for better memory management.

  57.     4.79  Fixed bug in "Another Name", Print bug when labels < 2. Printer
  58.           Okay function added to check printer status before you print out
  59.           labels. Sound added to some functions. ONLY COLOR. Fixed space
  60.           counting in PRINT ALL and PRINT FROM TO. If New Label selected
  61.           program will not prompt "Are You Sure?" unless you have a
  62.           file loaded or a file was edited. Full sorting on Label names
  63.           allowed in Sort mode and Print mode. Selecting TURN PAGE at first
  64.           only lists out the files, it does not re-sort them.

  66.     MOUSE SUPPORT ADDED

  68.     4.81  Mouse supported in MOST operations. Copy number now recognized in
  69.           the PRINT ALL and PRINT ALL FROM... TO... modes. Page numbers
  70.           added to screen. Can load file at any time while displayed. The
  71.           speed of "inter" changing files with mouse is 95% faster then
  72.           using the keyboard.  When input is too long, previous input is
  73.           not erased from screen.

  75.     4.83  Changed to 'Delete ALL, ARE YOU SURE' instead of 'ARE YOU SURE'.
  76.           Changed to 'New Label, CONFIRM' instead of 'ARE YOU SURE'.
  77.           Fixing SPACE NUMBER in 4.79 caused another problem... Fixed.
  78.           Default FONT, WIDTH, and RE LISTING option can be set in the
  79.           SETUP file (New Setup MUST be run). Print From/To accepts mouse
  80.           input. Temporary mouse "lock out" after "ANY KEY" pause fixed.
  81.           Intermittent screen "loss" after printing fixed.

  83.           NOTE: New SETUP (v4.8) MUST be run (SETUP.EXE - 9.120k - 8/26/91).

  85.     4.84  Cursor (Mouse) went off when selecting NEW, SAVE NO - Fixed.
  86.           Edit '*' turned off when NEW after already loaded - Fixed.
  87.           Exit Routine "Cleaned Up", File name check routine altered to
  88.           either check for length or valid chars (if the label name is too
  89.           long AND has invalid chars ONLY one error msg given, if the
  90.           name is bad due to one reason or another it is still bad -
  91.           saves time).

  93.     4.85  Fixed minor problem with startup of no mouse loaded. If you
  94.           enter a bad filename but it is in correct format the pgm will
  95.           use it as the filename if you select NEW. Page counting fixed
  96.           (oops).

  104.     Anyone who purchases a copy of version 4.0-x.x will get free updates
  105.     for a year. Any and all suggestions will be taken into account on the
  106.     newer versions! All versions of The Labeler are (and will remain) reverse
  107.     compatible, that is to say that v4.6 will automatically convert all
  108.     files (labels) from ANY earlier version. The labeler will recognize
  109.     the older labels and convert on the fly for you...
